Untreated cedar weathers from warm amber to soft silver-grey over two to three years — faster on sun-facing elevations. Half our clients choose cedar *for* that; the other half want the amber kept, which means UV-protective oil roughly every 18 months. There is no third option, and anyone selling 'maintenance-free natural cedar' is selling the first eighteen months. Thermowood silvers slower, composite not at all — we'll show you samples aged at different stages so the decision is made with open eyes.
